Frequently asked questions:
Q: Why should I buy your product instead of a Power Commander?
A: Once you get past the obvious advantage (the price), our technology has even more of them to offer.. First, the simplicity of adjustment allows anyone the ability to achieve an optimum fuel mixture setting for their motorcycle. No laptop computers are required, nor are any complicated spread sheets with over 100 different settings, no internet downloads, or dynamometer interfaces. This simplicity allows you to optimize YOUR fuel settings to maximize drive ability and performance. Secondly, our product is load based, which allows you to keep your stock fuel economy while the accelerator pump feature improves roll-on power.
Q: I hear your product only adds fuel. Some people say you need to remove fuel?
A: It is true that our product only adds fuel. We designed it that way to
keep it simple and affordable. Our belief is that in almost every
situation, addition of fuel is what fuel injected bikes need. Fuel systems
are mapped by the factory to be lean in cruise and everyday driving
conditions in order to meet emission standards. If you decide to change
your fuel system, most aftermarket exhaust systems tend to reduce back
pressure, which leans out the fuel even more. There are a few exceptions to
this, and one that comes to mind is the Honda CBR929/959 when the exhaust power valve is removed. Honda designed their engine specs around that feature (specifically the exhaust cam timing) and when you remove that
valve, volumetric efficiency in the motor is lost causing a bottom end bog. You can mask that bog by pulling out fuel around that area, and for that, you may have to go to another product. However, our product performs well
with all aftermarket exhausts. We keep in mind that the exhaust must at least match the flow of the stock system that is being removed or modified in order to maintain maximum volumetric efficiency.
Q: You say it is easy to adjust. Fuel injection seems complicated to me. What's up?
A: You?re right in believing that fuel injection is complicated, as there are thousands of hours of design time in creating a solid and effective fuel injection map at the factory. The research and development of a solid fuel system also involves the design of a lot of reliable and proven sensors, components and other hardware. We believe that the factory fuel injection map is rock solid, and that the factory technicians and engineers possess a lot more knowledge and experience in designing their own systems than we do. For instance, when a factory designs a carburetor- there are hundreds of decisions, choices and methods of achieving the end result of how that carburetor will perform. In the end, even with a carburetor, the designers
still give you a select few adjustments (main jet, needle clip position, low speed mixture screw) to allow changes to occur. If you think in terms of a jet kit, those select few changes allow you to tune virtually any change you could possibly make to your bike. That's what we've done and nothing more-
we allow you to select a few changes with our box to electronically adjust your own fuel mixture.
Q: What if I install and setup my bike with the TFi and then go up into the mountains? Will I have to re-adjust?
A: Our product attaches directly to the trigger wires of the fuel injector and only modifies the length or duration of the fuel signal. That way, all of the factory-specified and required settings for temperature adjustment, altitude and barometric pressure adjustment are totally unaffected and continue to function as originally designed.
Q: What if I install other performance mods after I have my TFi? Is there additional costs to me?
A: No, our TFi is a full-range product that can handle just about any modification you perform. Take Harley Davidson applications for example:
our unit functions just as well on a 100 HP fully built bigbore stroker motor as a showroom ?stock? Ultra Classic.
Q: Anything else I should be aware of?
A: The main problem we face is when customers try our product after they have been disappointed by the results they got from using other modification
systems or from re-mapping their own system. Because our unit relies on the stock factory fuel map, it cannot function effectively if any other
manipulation has already been entered into the existing system. You must remove any other form of fuel map modifications, chips, PC's, etc. before
using our product. Also, our product cannot fix mechanical issues that may already be present, and those issues can be found in a lot of systems already out there. Harley's Magneti Marelli system, for example, has frequent cylinder head temp sensor failures and TPS sensor adjustment issues. Also, BMW twins are sensitive to throttle synchronization. While using our product, if you find that your fuel system is not responding as we suggest, there may be some underlying mechanical issues already present that you need to address before you can achieve maximum performance.
